AUSU Social Groups
Social Group Guidelines
 AUSU Social Groups provide an opportunity to talk online
or in person with other students in your local area. A section of our discussion forums has been devoted to
social groups and can be found under the Social Group Forums heading.
Please visit our forums
and check out the Social Group Forum devoted to your area. Also note that when we get a large
number of students from a single city, we will consider setting up a separate section for that
group. We hope this will enhance the sharing of region-specific information (such as information about examination centers
and local study resources) and create more dynamic groups that can talk online or get together in large groups or small, any time you like!
Anyone hoping to set up a meeting should visit the forums and post a message
in the section for their region.
AUSU Social Group Guidelines
AUSU accepts no responsibility for any harm or loss
that may occur as a result of using the AUSU social group listings to
locate and meet with other interested parties. Local area groups are responsible
for arranging and administering their own local group meetings.
All of these guidlines are suggestions only. Each group
should decide what works best for them.
- It is advisable that you do not hand out or meet at your home address
unless you feel confident in giving out that information.
- Participants are under no obligation to supply any personal information
with other participants (eg. phone number, student ID, address or place of employment).
- Try varying meeting times to accomodate different schedules and keep your meetings
to a reasonable amount of time, try to start and end meetings at designated times so people who are shy
know when they can drop by for a short time (coffee shops are great for this).
- Please keep your groups open to new students as well as groups from
neighboring areas, and once your group is established, make an effort
to help new members blend in. It can be difficult to be the new person
in a group where relationships are already well established.
- Respect that fact that we are all different, each one of us is at
different levels in our courses and we each have different personalities.
- Your group should be a safe place. In the unlikely event that any member
should pose a threat to any member of the group, please contact local authorities.
