Since the launch of the new Voice website in July of 2002, our reader base has dramatically increased, as has interest in writing for The Voice. The number of subscribers has grown substantially, and student feedback is becoming more frequent.
Due to the unique nature of our online student publication, our title has changed to The Voice Magazine. This name more accurately reflects the diverse Voice content, which includes fiction, film and book reviews, research articles, in-depth coverage of student and education events, opinions, government and educational news releases, an advice column, and much more.
Early 2003 saw the departure of long-time Voice editor

Tammy Moore, who has gone on to the job of her dreams as a junior high school teacher. Before she left, however, Tammy introduced one of the most popular Voice columns: AU Profiles.
Recognizing that our readers love hearing more about other AU students, the new Voice editor has introduced a student soap-box column called Sounding Off. Another student input column, Pets and Peeves, is in the works.
Another addition to the new Voice is in-depth reporting of AUSU council meetings, so that students who are unable to attend can keep up to date with what council is doing for them.

Finally, in order to improve the look and accessibility of The Voice, the current website has just been updated with a better navigation system and new graphics.
Our sincerest thanks to all of the students who responded to the recent Voice contest. Your input has been invaluable, and will be used to create an even better Voice over the coming months. You have asked for more information about AU students, more fun, and more education news. Look for these changes to be incorporated into future Voice issues.

AUSU mailed out its first newsletter to students in October 2002. The response was wonderful! Over 400 students have registered on the AUSU website since then. The activity on the discussion board soared as did interest in the Study Buddy program.
