AUSU Individual Health and Travel Plan
Preferred access to health and dental coverage for AUSU members across Canada
| Competitive benefits, options and pricing for AUSU members offered by Ingle International |
The AUSU Individual Health and Travel Plan is
offered through Ingle International and Imagine Financial Ltd. to provide great rates to AUSU members on their commercial
insurance products. It offers a range of a-la-carte insurance services that include coverage for prescriptions, dental work,
eye care, hospital coverage and more. Because it is a custom plan, AUSU members can purchase as much or as little coverage as
they need, and may include their spouses and children.
The plan can also supplement other extended insurance plans. For example, if you have 50% dental coverage through your
employer, you can "top up" your total coverage to 100% of your dental expenses. This is an opt-in plan, so no one is required to
purchase coverage.
This plan is available to AUSU members in all Canadian provinces. Rates will vary from province to province as well
as according to your age and the coverage options that you choose. The best way to find out your rate is to visit the plan
website and review the coverage options and your province's rate sheet. Visit
www.ingleinternational.com/ausu now for more information.
Please do not contact Athabasca University for information about this plan. Extended health and dental plans
are offered exclusively through AUSU and the insurer, and any requests for information made to the university will be forwarded
back to AUSU. Athabasca University (AU) and Athabasca University Students' Union (AUSU) are distinct organizations and each
provides separate and exclusive services to students. Feel free to email us at ausu@ausu.org
if you wish to comment on this program, but be aware that insurance products are sold and administered by Ingle International
and AUSU cannot assist you with rate or coverage information.

Please feel free to email us with you comments about the program, and we'll
provide answers to the most common questions on this page.
- Who do I contact for information about rates and coverage?

- Is this plan like those offered by other universities? Are the rates as low?

Who do I contact for information about rates and coverage?
Because this plan is administered solely by the insurer, you must visit their website or phone
Ingle International for this information. You can visit their special webpage for AUSU members at
www.ingleinternational.com/ausu, email
ausu@ingleinternational.com or phone toll free
at 1.866.344.6453. Make sure to mention that you are an AUSU member to obtain AUSU pricing.
How do I become an AUSU member?
AUSU member fees are paid automatically with each undergraduate course registration at
Athabasca University. Your membership begins on the start date of your course (not your registration date),
and ends six months after the course end date. If you purchase a course extension, AUSU will extend your membership
for free.
Is this plan like those offered by other universities? Are the rates as low?
The answers are no, and not quite. The plans offered by other universities are designed to serve a group of
students who are all about the same age (late teens to early twenties), living in the same locale, and taking courses
on the same schedule. These plans provide minimal coverage, few options, and apply only to the student and only while
courses are in session. This plan differs in the following ways:
- It has the flexibility to meet the needs of students of all ages, including those with families and mature students
- It can be used to supplement an existing extended plan. For example, if you currently have 50% prescription coverage from
your employer, you can use this plan to top up your coverage to 100%.
- You may buy coverage for your family members, as well as yourself
- You may continue to use this plan while you take a break between semesters, and for some time after your studies are
complete
- This plan is not administered by the students' union - rather, Ingle International and Imagine Financial, ltd., firms
which supply services to consumers across Canada, will provide coverage and customer service.
Will all members pay the same rates?
No. Plans where rates are set for the group are called Group Plans, and they are common to other universities.
That type of plan can be offered because the members who are being insured are similar in age, will be covered for the same
period, and live in the same location. The benefit of such a plan is a very low rate, but coverage is often minimal and not
sufficient for many mature students. The rates for our plan will vary depending on your age, province and health conditions,
and you will be required to undertake an application process similar to if you were purchasing any commercial insurance
product. However, your AUSU membership provides you with access to exclusive products with better pricing than you would
find elsewhere.
What does the plan cover?
The plan has a wide variety of options so that you can build a plan to meet your needs. Coverage is available for
ambulance services, dental care, prescription drugs, paramedical practitioners, medical supplies and appliances, hearing
aids, vision care and more, with multiple levels of coverage for you to choose from.
