Happy New Year AUSU members!!!

I have a few exciting things to talk about this month.

The first is AUSU’s 2015 Planner/Handbook. The AUSU planners arrived at the AUSU office on January 5th and staff are busy filling all the pre-orders we received through our website. As always, the AUSU planners are produced entirely by AUSU for you, our members. Not only will you find a handy calendar with notable dates to help you plan your studies, but there are also a lot of useful links and information about services offered by AU and AUSU.

The second is a mobile app for members. AUSU Council passed a motion at the December meeting to move forward with creating a mobile app as a joint project with AUGSA. Although we are still in the very, very early stages of this, it is very exciting to think that members will be able to use their smart phones to easily access information about upcoming events, links to AUSU services, and information about AUSU Council. We are also very excited to work closely with the AU Graduate Students’ Association over the coming months to make this project a reality. The anticipated launch date is September 2015. Watch our website and newsletters for more information in the coming months.

Lastly, just a reminder that AUSU’s Student Health and Dental Plan is up and running. So far we have had quite a few people sign up. We continue to work on our processes to make this as easy as possible for our members. To find out more information, check out the Health Care page for answers to some frequently asked questions and easy to follow instructions on how to sign up.

The current AUSU council continues to work very hard to accomplish a lofty set of goals that we set for ourselves for the 2014-2015 fiscal year. I’m sure as we continue to work through our list you will see lots of positive changes to our website and services.
