Want to get more involved with AUSU? Do you have ideas for engaging with other AU students? Looking for a chance to get experience in committee or governance work?

Apply to sit on the AUSU Member Engagement and Communications Committee as a voting member!

The MEC committee is a standing committee formed by AUSU Council to develop a strong connection between AUSU and its members, and ensure that all AUSU communications are representative of our goals and mission. The committee also strives to promote content to provide members with a sense of community, a stronger connection with their fellow students, a better understanding of AUSU, and a well-rounded university experience.

Typical duties include developing the AUSU communication plan, discussing and implementing means for member engagement, reviewing and assessing communication and service usage statistics, trends and demographics, as well as brainstorming, writing, and proofing AUSU communications.

Any member across Canada can join as duties are all online!

Time Commitment:

Council meetingsCommittee members should be prepared to devote approximately 1-3 hours per week for email and related asynchronous tasks, as well as approximately 2 hours per month for a teleconference meeting.

The term for non-councillors on standing committees will be approximately one year, and will follow the timeline of committee elections for councillors (April/May).


Members-at-large on the MEC Committee will receive an honorarium of $50 per month.

Must be an AUSU member to apply and remain a member while on the committee.

The deadline to apply is Friday, June 3, 2016.
