AUSU Approves Funds Reallocation

AUSU recently unanimously passed a motion by email to support AUSU students. The motion is as follows:

BIRT AUSU council approves the allocation of up to $100,000 from the current 2019/20 surplus funds, to be used during the 2020/21 fiscal year, to the awards program ($56,000) and to the budgeted annual contest prizing (up to $44,000).  (Approved Unanimously 13/0)

AUSU student council is proud to approve this motion that will put surplus funds achieved in 2019-2020 directly into the pockets of AU students. This is an exciting and unprecedented motion for AUSU during a period of time when AU students have been navigating the COVID-19 pandemic. As the motion communicates, this allocation will infuse the budget amounts dedicated to our awards program, which will include our cyclical awards as well as our emergency bursary and computer bursary, as well as future contests and giveaways that will place these funds in the hands that need it most, AU students.

This email motion will be ratified by AUSU Council during the October 21st, 2020 meeting of council.

Stay tuned for more details about how AUSU will be distributing the funds for students!
