AUSU Celebrates Pride
June is Pride Month and we have some great celebrations planned for you all!
AUSU continues advocating to AU for affirming name changes and pronouns and enhanced supports for 2SLGBTQIA+ students. Do you have suggestions, questions, or concerns? Contact VP Community and Wellness Natalia Iwanek at vpex@ausu.org. I’m here to chat anytime.
For Pride Month, we’ve planned a week of celebrations that will launch AUSU’s 2022-23 term. They include a Pride edition of AUSUnights, featuring a virtual drag performance from Party Queens*, as well as an AUSU Open Mic Podcast, and social media contest. Visit our Pride Community Centre for details.
This will be AUSU’s second year celebrating Pride after the first Pride Week in June 2021 was such a success. We had so much fun, in fact, that we did it again in October 2021 and were honoured to host award-winning Two-spirit author Joshua Whitehead and Dr. Tobias Wiggins from AU’s Women’s and Gender Studies program.
Stay tuned for another Pride Week in October 2022 when we will celebrate with even more speakers, events, and contests!
2STNBGN Award
AUSU is thrilled to announce that we are now accepting applications for two academic bursary awards of $1000 each for Two-Spirit, Trans, Non-Binary, and Gender-Nonconforming undergraduate students at AU.
Information on the award and application process can be found on our website here. The application deadline is June 30, 2022, and recipients will be selected in July.
