Are you passionate about improving the Athabasca University (AU) student experience and helping undergraduates like you? Are you looking to gain committee or governance experience? Then check out these amazing leadership opportunities with Athabasca University Students’ Union (AUSU)!                                       

We need AU undergraduate students to join the following AUSU committees:

  • Finance Committee (1 seat)
  • Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Committee (1 seat)
  • Member Engagement and Communications (MEC) Committee (2 seats)

The term for student Members at Large positions on AUSU committees is approximately 1 year.

The Finance Committee provides oversight on AUSU’s financial transactions, ensures compliance with policy, highlights errors or inconsistencies for review, and offers recommendations to Council on the financial direction of the organization. The committee meets four times annually by teleconference and members receive a $60 honorarium for each meeting attended.

Terms of reference: AUSU Policy 8.01.

The EDI Committee promotes the awareness and visibility of EDI as a core value at AUSU. It identifies the EDI needs of AU undergraduate students and supports the Executive Committee in its advocacy efforts to meet those needs. The committee meets six times annually by teleconference and members receive a $60 honorarium for each meeting attended.

The MEC Committee develops ideas to foster a strong connection between AUSU and its members. It ensures that AUSU services and communications reflect the goals of our Strategic Plan. The committee meets four times annually by teleconference and members receive a $60 honorarium for each meeting attended.
