I started my academic journey at Athabasca University in 2019 in order to finish my degree that I began years ago at the University of Calgary. During this time I’ve grown to understand some of the problems distance students face such as finding the right supports in an online environment; having materials delivered in a way that matches your learning style; and ensuring the system treats everyone fairly, equitably, and with dignity.

I’ve tackled similar problems in my career as a harm reduction specialist–giving people advice and getting help to those who need it. I know I can bring these skills to our university and our students’ union, and I am both excited and passionate about building a better community for AU students.

Among the many paths I’ve walked through life so far–parent, veteran, someone living with ADHD and PTSD, and as someone who identifies as a Queer human–I am so grateful for this opportunity to serve as your student representative.
