My name is Brandon Simmons and I am honoured to represent you on the AUSU council. I have been an AU student since 2012 and I am currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Commerce program. I live on an acreage in Parkland County (an hour west of Edmonton) with my wife, son and three daughters.
I have been on AUSU council since 2015. In that time I have served as VPFA, VPEX, and I am grateful to now represent you as President. I am very passionate about AUSU and the work that we are able to do. AU holds a special place in my heart as it has given me the ability to attend university when I would not have otherwise been able to. I used to work as a contractor but due to high school football injuries my body could not keep up with that line of work. My studies at AU have allowed me to transition from the trades into the business sector which has changed my life. I know that my story is not unique, and I want to see AU continue to provide the best possible experience for students.
In my past, I have also had the chance to represent AU in the 2014 and 2015 CPA Board Governance competitions. With all the experiences I have had from AU and from working as an accountant I was able to start a disaster relief charity and a business consulting company focusing on marketing, accounting, and strategic planning.
I am very excited to be on council again and I look forward to all of the great work we have ahead of us.
