My name is Eva Embree, and I am so excited and grateful to be part of the representation of our student body. I have been a student at AU for two years, returning from a ten-year break in my studies with a renewed passion, along with the knowledge and skills those years have given me. I am working towards my BA with a major in psychology, and my long-term goal is to continue into graduate school once I complete my degree.
During my first time through university, not only did I not have a single clue about what was going on, but I had no idea how to figure it out, or how to seek out resources. Through time and life experience, I have worked to develop a skill set that I feel could be beneficial while advocating for students. I hope to improve and gain experience in new avenues, enacting change to improve the AU experience for as many people as possible; I have continued to increase my knowledge since being elected as a councillor for AUSU in the 2021 By-Election. For the next two years, I hope to learn from the other councillors who have provided such great examples of advocacy and initiative, and to help to bring focus to the rising tuition costs, outdated course materials, increasing scholarship and bursary opportunities, and the online learning experience.
