It’s my absolute pleasure to introduce myself as the Executive Director of the Athabasca University Students’ Union. Originally from B.C., I grew up around Lloydminster before moving to Edmonton in 2002 to start my business education at MacEwan University. Immediately after graduating in 2006, I began working for MacEwan as a Program Consultant and Advisor for the School of Business and loved the opportunity to work one-on-one with students progressing through their academic careers.
In 2013, I became the General Manager of the MacEwan University Students’ Association, where I worked alongside an amazing team of staff and students leaders for four years. This opportunity brought me even closer to the student experience and allowed me to hone my skills as an executive leader.
I have a passion for learning and throughout my career have always been drawn to working in a University environment, which allowed me the privilege of coaching, mentoring, and leading students.
I also have a love for sports, with hockey, rugby, and golf being at the top of the list. As the head coach of the MacEwan University Men’s and Women’s golf team, I have enjoyed coaching student athletes at both the Provincial and National levels.
I have been married to my lovely wife Shawna for 27 years. Shawna is a Life and Executive Coach, so when we’re not cheering on the Oilers, going to a movie, or planning our next getaway, you’ll likely find us with our coaching hats on talking about human behaviour and personal development.
As the AUSU Executive Director, one of my primary roles is to create an environment where our AUSU team of Staff, Executives, and Councillors can maximize their potential while serving the AU student body. I love going to work and take a great deal of pride knowing that what we do at AUSU really matters!
