Councillor

I am thrilled and excited to have been elected to AU Student Council.  What an immense privilege it is to represent my fellow students!

My studies at Athabasca began in 2003, and I’m currently completing my Bachelor of Management degree.  I have spent the past 20 years working in healthcare, in varying administrative roles ranging from unit clerk to administrative secretary.  My experience is in front line customer service and secretarial support.  Since 2016, I have been on the board of directors of a local non-profit, serving as executive secretary.  I’m also constantly expanding my knowledge outside of school on leadership and governance roles, both through my employer and evening workshops.

In the future I hope to continue with post-graduate studies in either leadership or management.  Athabasca has enabled me to study for my undergrad while continuing to work full-time.

I live in Kingston, Ontario with my husband of 16 years and my two study buddies, Emily and Oliver.  My parents are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this year.  I also have a brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephew whom I adore and visit whenever I can.

When I’m not studying, you can find me in the kitchen, organizing something, puttering in the garden, playing video games or snuggling with my furkids.

I’m looking forward to learning everything I can to best serve you for the upcoming 2018-2020 term.

Cheers!
