Husoni Raymond (he/him) is a graduate of St. Thomas University in New Brunswick. He served on the student union for four years, notably being elected as the first Black students’ union president in St. Thomas University history. He received the New Brunswick Multicultural Council’s Champion of Cultural Diversity award in 2019 and was recognized as the top graduating student in 2020 for his community contributions.
After graduation, Husoni worked for the New Brunswick Multicultural Council as the Manager of Anti-racism initiatives and was a co-founder of Black Lives Matter Fredericton. He led and contributed to numerous grassroots anti-racism, anti-oppression, and human rights initiatives through these positions. Notably, he led advocacy for Black history to be incorporated in the New Brunswick public school curriculum and research on racism in New Brunswick.
Husoni is now pursuing his Juris Doctor degree from Osgoode Hall Law School where he is Junior Editor for The Journal of Law and Social Policy (JLSP). He remains an active member of Black Lives Matter Fredericton and Black Lives Matter Canada.
