Come meet Chris Kennedy (he/him) from Fierté Canada Pride, the national association of Canadian Pride organizations!

About Fierté Canada Pride

Fierté Canada Pride is a membership-based organization, governed by volunteers. Their main goal is to promote gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex and two-spirited Prides on a national level.

Fierté Canada Pride’s mission is to strengthen Pride organizations and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities through elevating equity-denied and global majority peoples, practicing reconciliation in action, collaborating intentionally, building capacity, and advocating for systemic change.

About the Speaker

Chris Kennedy is the Board Communications Director for Fierté Canada Pride (FCP); uses he/him pronouns; and identifies as polyamorous. FCP is the national association of Pride organizations across Turtle Island (Canada), and Chris has been a Board Member since 2021. Chris lives on the unceded, ancestral, stolen territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations, colonially referred to as North Vancouver BC, where he has lived for 15 years. Previous to living in the Lower Mainland, Chris grew up in a small alpine community in northern BC, where he survived 11 years of private and public school bullying, teasing, harassment, and sexual abuse before fleeing the community 2 days after high school graduation.

Chris was a provincially-recognized representative of his previous employer’s national Diversity, Equity & Inclusion committee; and is the Chairperson of his current employer’s Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging committee. Chris is also a Director at Large of the Vancouver Pride Society, currently in the 2nd year of his term; and he is known for his open, honest, and “to the point” communication skills, as well as his passion for body- and sex- positivity for and within the queer community. Through a program with his current employer, Chris has been featured on many major social media platforms, discussing and educating folks on how to be inclusive in their social selling strategy; and since 2021, he has been a regular presenter at University Canada West during their New Student Orientation series, covering various queer topics and resources in and around the Lower Mainland.

During his free time, Chris enjoys anything to do with food, and is a lover of BC VQA white wines. He enjoys camping in the summer and spending as much time outdoors as he can – whether it be pool-side, at the beach, or laying out in a park. Chris and his husband have no pets and no children, but they are the proud plant dads to 13 plant amigos.
