Self-care is Community Care
Tuesday, September 26 @ 5:00 pm MDT – 6:00 pm MDT
We are excited to announce that Dr. Melissa Jay is the second of three (3) events for this year’s Indigenous Student Week by AUSU.
Dr. Jay’s experiential workshop, Self-Care is Community Care, helps you to learn and practice tangible, grounding, hands-on techniques to support self-care and healing. You will be invited to explore how somatic practices, like gentle movement, breathwork, and present moment awareness can deepen the relationship you have with yourself and your community. You will also learn how these practices can support reciprocity and co-regulation, as forms of community care.
About the Presenter
Dr. Melissa Jay is a Nehiyaw member of the Métis Nation of Alberta, a registered psychologist, a lifelong student of yoga philosophy, and an Assistant Professor at Athabasca University. Her work is grounded in decolonized healing, putting social justice into action, and supporting continued learning and unlearning, across the lifespan.
