AUSU 2018 Services Survey Results

In November 2018, AUSU sent a survey out to AUSU members to get feedback about our services, communications, and advocacy. We want you to know we value your opinions, and will use the result of the survey to assist in setting our goals, budget, advocacy priorities, and strategic planning.

AUSU 2018-2019 Executive Committee Work Plan

AUSU executive committee adopted a new Work Plan which details the strategies and goals they have prioritized over the 2018-2019 term. The Work Plan was approved during the July 2018 council meeting.

AUSU 2016-2017 Goals – Revised

AUSU adopted a revised Council Goals list for 2016-2017 during the November 8 council meeting.

AUSU 2016 Council Retreat Report

In June 2016, AUSU held a council working retreat in Edmonton, Alberta. The retreat was a great success with lots of brainstorming and action plans about AUSU goals, bylaws, budget, and advocacy efforts. AUSU has put together a report to outline all of the ideas and action items that came out of the retreat.

AUSU 2016-2017 Goals

AUSU adopted a new Council Goals list for 2016-2017 during the September 13 council meeting.

The goals came from information gathered from our membership in the 2016 Member Services Survey. They were designed to ensure that the council efforts and membership money are going towards goals important to the membership.

AUSU 2015-2016 Goals Progress Report

AUSU accepted a final report on the 2015-2016 Goals with an updated progress report on all items during our September 13 council meeting. We are pleased to report that all goals were completed, with the exception of the goals pertaining The Voice Magazine and the AUSU Bylaws, which are in progress and ongoing and have also been added to the 2016-2017 Goals list.

Executive Compensation Review Committee Report

In 2016 AUSU put together an ad-hoc Executive Compensation Review Committee. The goal of the committee was to ensure a fair compensation package for AUSU executives, as well as to ensure a fair, consistent, and transparent process of review for the executive compensation and benefits. The committee completed extensive research and put together a detailed report with their recommendations to council, which was accepted during the March 10, 2016 council meeting. As a result of the committee recommendations, council also passed a motion to accept changes to AUSU Policy 2.15 Council Governance – Executive Accountability and Compensation, which lowered the honorarium for the President and VP positions to $ $38,221.27 and $32,761.23 per year, respectively, for the incoming executive.

Forensic Audit Committee Report

As a result of a motion raised at the 2015 Annual General Meeting, AUSU put together an ad-hoc Forensic Audit Committee. The committee did extensive research considering many variables, including member consultations with those present at the 2015 AGM. They put together a detailed report, which includes the goals of the committee, the findings of their research on numerous topics, and thirteen recommendations to council. The report was accepted by council during the March 10, 2016 council meeting. As a result of the committee report, council passed a motion to put all of the committee recommendations on the 2015-2016 goals list to ensure implementation by the end of the 2015/2016 fiscal year.

AUSU Goals 2015-2016 – Revised

On February 11, 2016, council voted in favour of adding a new goal to the 2015-2016 Goals list, in support of The Voice.

AU Services and Response Times Survey Results

In December 2015, AUSU circulated a survey to all AUSU members to obtain feedback on Athabasca University services and response times. We value our member’s opinions, and will use this document in discussions with AU to advocate for improved services and response times.

Etext and Course Materials Survey results

In May of 2014, AUSU sent a survey out to AUSU members to get feedback about Athabasca University E-texts and course materials. We have shared these results with the University, and continue to advocate on our member’s behalf for choice and cost-savings sharing for e-texts and course materials.
